Cosmos and Gold

I finally got the whole "creative facial hair" thing that I've talked about in the past. It's just another way to say "I'm different, look at me!" much like the way so many of them belong to an oddball religion/cult thing is, just as being a "Truther" is. Another example of why this is the perfect movement for narcissists.

i'm kind of fascinated by the last two posts here on SLC. what fascinates me is the wonder expressed by debunkers as to why the 9/11 truth phenomena proliferates.

i think the reason interest in 9/11 dropped from 2007 is in direct relation to the election of president obama. but as people watched him sweep all of the previous administrations war crimes (gitmo tortures and murders, abu gharib) under the rug in an effort to look forward.

they see the truth of the war on terror in videos like wikileaks collateral murder video and have realized that the war on terror is perpetual and won't end any time in the near future.

is the debunking of what 9/11 truthers believe that difficult? it's impossible to plausibly bring up the idea of 9/11 truth without being ridiculed but as the previous post pointed out interest in 9/11 truth in on the rise, again.

I'd love to be at that wedding. The cake will be in black with the Twin Towers on top and "INSIDE JOB" in bold white letters. Mrs. Cosmos will put on her prettiest facial piercings. Guests will enjoy a meatless buffet and receive Zeitgeist DVD's.

Regarding chico's comment: sociologists agree that in dark times, people turn toward religion; and when times are more hopeful and prosperous, religion takes on a diminished role. So it's not that mysterious: Obama's election brought hope that A Real 9/11 Investigation was right around the corner, etc., and now that President Obama has rejected 9/11 truth, the faithful have returned to the cult.

Debunking 9/11 Truth from a factual standpoint is trivially easy. Debunking a religion to a devout follower of that religion is impossible.

Religions like 9/11 are also popular when one has nothing to offer the world as a whole. No talent? no intellect? no skills? No problem. You can create a crappy conspiracy theory and not have to worry about fact checking because it's all made up anyway, any holes in your logic can be plugged with the excuse "the man is hiding the proof." Make a shabby movie and you will find some fools to fawn over it. Write a book of made up bunk and you will find suckers who will buy it.

It's lasting power is in the fact here and abroad you have a large group of uneducated and low IQ people who can be easy fooled by popular myths. You can get them to believe in aliens, astrology bigfoot and countless other urban legends. You can get them to believe in controlled demolitions and Obama's African birth. They become truthers and teabaggers.

It doesn't really matter the best and brightest will always control things, the "Elite" as dumb people like to call them are far more useful to society. Science will always trump superstition. The people who can figure out how to use technology will always better the old school guys.

It's always been that way, the masses along with the church thought the Sun revolved around the Earth, the educated elite knew better. The common man believed the Earth was flat, Columbus knew it was round. The idea god created man is believed by many in the US, maybe even a majority, the scientific literate know better.

So it does not matter what a small but vocal minority believe, they will get nowhere, 20 years from now truthers will be like JFK plot believers, those gullible masses who will buy anything.

And I will be the one who is so rude as to say it told you so.

Oh yes, because nothing good at all in any way whatsoever has been accomplished during this war, it's just ALL KILLING AND MURDERING! WHARGARRBL!

http://www.operationiraqichildren.org/stories.asp

I'm not pro Iraq war at all, as I'm sure you're hoping to spin in your next comment. But you shouldn't judge the entire situation on a bunch of psychos that happen to be there. Just as, yeah, you'd be right to point out we shouldn't judge every troofer on the few that have murdered and are holocaust deniers.

Despite people only focusing (and legitimately so) on the negatives, a lot of good people have actually been helped in Iraq. And what sucks most of all, is if we left today, Iran would storm the shit out of the country and undo any and whatever little good that actually came from this war, and Iraq could not defend itself without us. But, Iran is calling for a new 9/11 investigation, which is in no way just to make America look bad as part of a political agenda for Iran, nope. So Iran must be this awesome land of happiness and freedom and much better than the U.S., right?

The Iraqi people probably lose if we stay, and they surely lose if we leave. I can't see a way out of that.

is the debunking of what 9/11 truthers believe that difficult?

No, it's actually quite easy. What's difficult is your stubborn refusal to accept reality and instead, try to turn it into a mental problem for someone else, or suggest it's really an evil plot against you somehow, rather than accept a simple fact that a plane can bring down a building.

Debunking 9/11 Truth from a factual standpoint is trivially easy. Debunking a religion to a devout follower of that religion is impossible.

Exactly.

All I can think of is the Pottery Barn warning from Powel. "If you break it, you bought it"

As much as a tyrant Sudam was he was a secular tyrant. He had Christians in his cabinet! Now we have religious factions fighting over who hates the US more.

There's nothing creative about that. At least with Craig David-style beards, though ridiculous, they at least look like some grooming has gone into them. This asshole - 'Cosmos' is it? - looks like he's a crazy homeless person, which given that he's apparently a Truther, probably isn't surprising.

Dave:

"As much as a tyrant Sudam was he was a secular tyrant. He had Christians in his cabinet!"

He was hardly secular. He used Muslim language all the time. He was a non-believer, sure, but many despots are.

Now is that a plural on Christians? I only know of Tariq Aziz, who was another Baathist despot who managed to come out on top for a while. I'm not sure why his confession matters.

In any event, Hussein was not secular in the sense that Allawi and Sarkozy are secular.

"Now we have religious factions fighting over who hates the US more."

Now, Dave, that's just silly. If that were true, the U.S. body count would be much higher. They're fighting each other for territory & power.

Nonetheless, I understand that Hussein kept a lid on the inevitable ethnic explosion through things like torture rooms and lying about having chemical weapons. In fact I was against the war from the beginning. But at some point I realized that Hussein's days were numbered, as it's somewhat inevitable that we all drop dead. And I couldn't envision an outcome of that other than the explosion and implosion of the entire country.

So you think the religious struggles are bad now? Try imagining the U.S. not being there to enforce some form of the rule of law - and imagine the Iranians taking advantage of the situation.

Dylan Avery's hair, Cosmos' beard....

Are you a closet homosexual Pat?

Or are you just outing yourself as the gossipy tabloid attention whore you accuse others of being?

Or is that you couldn't find anything in his words to whine about or spin?

This blog was always like the cleanout drain of the debunker cult, but now it has lowered itself down to the level of "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy".

Get a life Pat, you're an ugly, dilapidated, lonely old troll and no matter how much you pick on the facial features of truthers, it doesn't improve your own.

It's a Declaration of Independence.

But it's also a way of attracting negative attention so that you can whine on and on about how you're so persecuted for being different and non-conformist and other highly contrived poses.

Who says he can't be both? Sorta feel sorry for him if he is gay, him being a Rethuglican, but it would make sense. No wife or gf, likes manly republican stuff and we all know raging conservatives are closet queens.

Or Pat could be jealous Dylan and Cosmos still have hair and he doesn't. Someone should send him a FABULOUS wig. Anyone have Pat's address?

When Shyte starts waxing poetically narcissistic it's a wonder to behold! Good point about Saddam, though. It's dramatically worse now in Iraq, with no sign of improvement on the horizon.20% of the country is now displaced and over a million people have been murdered or died violent deaths since Herr Rumsfeld and Dick unleashed the dogs under criminally false pretenses.Under Saddam, women got Ph.D's and, hey, they could drive over there! He modernized the country in a very real way,to the benefit of many. The oil money went to socila welfare and the creation of world class universities.Of course,he slaughtered his Shia enemies, brutalized the Kurds and wrote bad romance novels,so.....

Watch the original instead of reading Pat's crap.
